LEPC
The Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) is a county-based group responsible for coordinating hazardous materials preparedness and response. Established under the federal Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA), the LEPC works with local governments, first responders, industries, and the public to develop and maintain emergency plans for chemical hazards. The committee's key duties include ensuring proper community awareness, facilitating emergency response training, and managing chemical reporting systems to enhance public safety and preparedness in the event of hazardous material incidents.
